Happy 13th Birthday Andrew

Andrew David Cerveny is my youngest brother
who was stillborn on December 23rd 1995.
Sometime it's hard to believe that it has been 13 years since Andrew was born. 13 years since we held him for the first and last time. Some memories are as clear as day others a little fuzzy. Being 16 at the time a was very scared to hold him. And while I was holding him I could of sworn that I felt him move which really freaked me out. We didn't get to spend time with him on this earth but we knew him while Mom was
pregnant he was very active and we would watch him move alot.
We don't know what his personalty would have been like, but i have been thinking about it i think he would have been alot like Benjamin. I'm not sure why but i think that is the way he might have been. And he was so a cutie too.

Who would have thought that 13 years later I would be experience the same pain of losing a child with my Mom and Dad. You want to be able to share things with your parents but not this.
One thing is for sure, Andrew and Maggie will always be a part of our lives forever.
Happy Birthday Andrew!

Here is Pene in the bird cage.

Photobucket
Yes those are panties on her head.
This is how Pene likes to have her picture taken right now. Pretty right?

Sydney got her first library card yesterday. She was excited.
Now she can "pay" for her books.
Here is Syd with her new card
Photobucket
Here is Pene sad that she doesn't have a card to get a picture taken with.

We decorated our Christmas tree the other night. It has been sitting "naked" since Thanksgiving. The girls loved putting on the ornaments . At the very top we put Maggie's ornaments. First is a Precious Moments one that was given to us by David's sister Stephanie.
Photobucket
And this ornament was given to us by my cousin Kelly and her DH Adam. It is a Hallmark keepsake ornament for 2008 that says
"Every life leaves something beautiful behind....".
The funny thing is I had seen this ornament online one night and we had decided we were going to go to the Hallmark store and get one. But to our surprise this one showed up in the mail a couple of days later. It is a wonderful gift.

Sorry there's not much info in this post. Not much really going on.
Maybe something more next time.
Enjoy

The joys of a 4 year old..

The other day I learned that I need to be prepared for question while watching TV with Sydney.
We were watching a TV show that is based in a Medical faultily. They were doing IVF (in-vitro fertilization) they were selecting eggs at the time when Syd asked what they were and I said that they were eggs that make a baby. To which she asks how do babies get in mommies bellies? AHHH!!
My reply: very carefully. She said ok. I was telling David about it later that night (b/c of course he doesn't get asked those kind of questions) and I couldn't remember exactly what I told and said that I said it was complacated. To which she piped up and said.."No mom you said very carefully". This kid is too smart sometimes.

Later in the day we were watching ER (i should learn not to watch medical shows with Syd). There was an emergency on a child and they were doing CPR. She of course asked what CPR was and i told her it was something that you do when someones heart stops to get it started again. She looked at me and i knew what she was thinking it but she didn't ask. But she was wondering why we didn't we do that on Maggie. B/c she knows that Maggie's heart stopped.
Even though she didn't ask the question that she was thinking I told her that Maggie's heart was tired and that CPR wouldn't have helped that is was Maggie's time to go. She seemed ok with that, but I'm sure there will be more questions as life goes on.

So no more medical shows while David isn't home, so maybe he will get asked those questions .
Probably not but I can hope.

One Month

It has been one month since Maggie died.
One month since i last held my baby.
It really sucks.
But we're hanging in there.
Sydney today said that she wished Maggie would come back.
Sadly a wish I can't make come true.

Maggie's Headstone

After Maggie's diagnosis we did a few things that would help prepare for her passing(i.e funeral arraignments, looking at headstones..... ). These things were not fun. Before her passing we went to the monument dealer to just see what there was and the prices. We really didn't think much about it anymore, until after Maggie passed. About 2 weeks after Maggie passed we received a phone call informing us that someone (who wishes to remain anonymous) had donated a large sum toward the purchase of Maggie's Headstone. We were very surprised! So we went and picked one out, again not a fun thing to do, and what we picked was paid for fully by the donation. We are truly grateful for that. Well her headstone was placed yesterday (unfortunately it had to happen on David's birthday). It was a hard thing to watch but not as hard I thought it would be. Now she has something that says she is there and that she lived. So without further ado, here is Maggie's stone

GHOST, silly faces and other stuff....

Well we did our Annual Ghost Trick-or-Treating thing at the University on Sunday. The girls came home with plenty of candy. It was a little sad though, this would have been Maggie's first year and we were excited to try and figure out what to dress her as. Unfortunately we didn't get that opportunity, so it was a bitter sweet time. On to the girls costumes, Sydney is in her words a Disney Princess Fairy, Pene is supposed to be a woodland fairy, but she wasn't to interested in keeping in character.

In their candy they ended up with a pair of vampire teeth and Sydney loves them. See!
Photobucket
Here is Pene's silly face, she wanted her picture taken with her tongue too, when she saw the picture of Syd.
Photobucket
I was busy making stuff yesterday, i made bread Photobucket
and a Pocket cloth diaper, it isn't the greatest but it works. So far anyway. Here are some pictures. (these are for you Em)

It's funny how things happen....

Since Maggie was born (I think maybe even when I was pregnant with Maggie) David when he would buy me roses he would get me just 3.
One for each of the children.
Well on Monday he and Sydney walked to Walmart and came back with 3 roses for me.
Since then I have watched them to discover that of the
3 only 2 of them have opened up,
with one staying tightly closed.
Very much like my girls, with Sydney and Pene blooming and opening and Maggie staying a beautiful bud.
Here are my roses

I just thought it was interesting how it happened like that.

My Angel grew her wings

My precious little Maggie passed for this world on Saturday October 4th 2008, in the early hours of the morning. I am very lucky for the almost 5 months (more if you count the 43 week 3 day pregnancy) that had on this earth to get to know her. And for the opportunity that i had to be able hold her as she passed from this world. She is a spunky little spirit that was unable to shine on earth, but is even brighter in heaven.
She will be remembered and missed everyday for this rest of our lives.

We laid her body to rest yesterday in a beautiful cemetery with a beautiful service.
She was loved very much.
Thank you to every one for all of their support and thoughts for our family.
We are truly great full.

150 days

Well as of yesterday Maggie has been with us 150 days. So to celebrate I dressed her up in a dress (a gift from the Steve & Emily family) and made a sign to take her picture with. She didn't really want her picture taken. Here it is:
Photobucket
Unfortunately I have been sick and didn't realize until this morning that I forgot the "s" on days. Bummer. Here is another picture of Maggie.
Watch out Pene! I'm going to bite your finger!
Photobucket
Pene has decided that she is going to call Maggie, "Mag".
She is always saying Hi Mag! It is very cute.

OT and some Sydney sillies

Well Maggie does NOT like her OT (occupational therapy) exercises. Every time we do them she cries (and no we are not hurting her). So she is alittle bit funny about them. She can have quite an attitude sometimes. Maggie's nurse Jessica came today and she is doing fine. Everything looks normal for Maggie.
Last night Sydney wanted me to put one of our Build-a-bear's clothes on Maggie to see if they would fit. So what do you think?
Photobucket
Kind of Funny looking huh? Sydney thought it was fun to do.
Here are some funny things that Sydney has been saying lately..
Instead of George Washington it George Washingtent.
And instead of The Book of Mormon it is The Book of Norman.
Silly girl.
Here are some more pictures.

Just some things.......

Pene is quite a kid. Yesterday while Syd and Pene were taking a bath, i'm not sure what exactly was going on but Pene started calling Syd a baby and so Syd was crying an complaining a that Pene was calling her a baby. Pene can push Syd's buttons like nobody else.
The other day we were watching The Fifth Element, and Syd calls it "The Fit Elephant", silly kid. She said something else funny but i can't remember what it is now, maybe later.

In an attempt to have Maggie in cloth diapers i decided to try to make a pull-on Fleece cover. Well unfortunately I need a different kind of fleece because she peed' right thru it. Bummer but it was still cute. Here is a picture:
Photobucket

And we are a little sad right now. Our sweet little baby friend Elizabeth passed away. She was 6 months old, she also had Trisomy 18.

Cloth diapers and other stuff

Well i have finally gotten Pene back in her cloth diapers! Yay! I wish I could out Maggie in some but they are way too big. Note the pic in a g-diaper. The only way i will get Maggie in cloth is if i buy some preemie cloth diapers (that still might not fit) or make some with a doll pattern that i found. Oh well, we'll see.
Photobucket

Nothing much going on with the others. One thing, Sydney told Suzanne that she liked her Grandpa and missed him because he growls at her. Silliness.

Photobucket
Why are you taking my picture? says Maggie with her Joker hairdo

Don't let them fool you, they aren't asleep.

Moving and other fun stuff.

Well we have moved (yet again). Still piled in with boxes, it feels like for every box i empty there are 3 more. And it feels like they just keep coming.
On to other stuff.
Pene has started telling knock, knock jokes, this is her joke.
Knock Knock
Who's there?
Banana
Banana who?
....................... and that is the end of her knock knock joke.
Pene enjoyed a Fudgesicle, see.
Photobucket Image Hosting

Nothing much about Sydney, she is just convinced that since we moved that when her birthday is has moved. So everyday she asks if she is 5 yet.

On to Maggie. She has made it to 4 months! YAY! She has also decided that it is okay to nurse. For the last couple of days i have been nursing her after she has her bottle, not every time because i don't want to exhaust her too much, so she nurses and she is getting the milk to because it's on her face when she is done. So far she is eating ok. She has a 2oz bottle about every 2-3 hours, half breastmilk half formula, and she is not as messy as she used to be so she is getting pretty much all of the 2 oz. And i think she is starting to gain alittle bit of weight (not sure b/c we haven't weighed her recently) beacuse her legs and arms look alittle bit fuller.
Now if only she would sleep better at night.
She was visited yesterday by an Occupaitional therapist to see what we might be able to do to help her with her neck control (she doesn't have much if any) and to help relax her hands so that she will be able to use them if she hangs around for awhile. Well that about all there is for now, here are some pictures of Maggie. Enjoy.

3 months

Well it'd been 3 months since Maggie joined our family. There have been many ups and downs, but we are glad she is here with us. Things are still the same, no changes. I have moved Maggie from the bassinet to the crib in our room, because she seems to sleep better lying on her boppy and the boppy is too big for the bassinet. This the earliest any of my kids were sleeping in a crib. Crazy!
Here's Maggie

Here she is in a cute onesie from Aunt Tiffany
